Dikes & River banks

EN ISO rules and regulations describe the filtration process as the process used for "retaining the soil particles which are subjected to hydrodynamic forces and allowing the passage of fluids inside the geo-textile fabric."

The characteristic opening of Tessilbrenta Geotextiles is indeed designed to retain these particles while letting the water to flow freely. Should this not happen, the migration of the soil could reduce the construction overall load-carrying capacity.
Tessilbrenta Geotextiles have taken the place of the common gravel draining filter media in draining cuttings along river banks, in artificial lakes, in foundation walls, and in sports facilities. Tessilbrenta products have been designed in order to allow fluids to flow into draining systems, such as finely drilled piping, and at the same time to retain the finest particles so as to prevent their migration inside the drainage.

Geotextile products have the following characteristics:
- The filter fabric openings must be small enough to prevent excessive migration of soil
- They are waterproof and allow the fluid to pass through while keeping its flow constant
- They present a considerable number of openings, thus preventing obstruction
- They are chemically and physically resistant, which prevent the products from suffering any damages during their laying into place.

The advantages connected to the use of Tessilbrenta Geotextile products are the following:
- A continuous filtering process
- Reduced excavation
- Lesser influences on the environment
- Reduction in building time
- Reduction in the quantities of building materials required.

Erosion control
Geotextiles filters stabilize the soil and prevent internal erosion. Tessilbrenta Geotextiles offer optimum properties in this respect: the protection layer guarantees excellent resistance to installation damage, and the filtration layer guarantees the stability of the grain structure within the adjacent soil to be filtered. The stability of banks is thereby permanently guaranteed.

Tessilbrenta Geotextiles can be used for all erosion control applications in civil engineering structures, but is especially suitable for cases where bi-directional flow requires special filtration properties, such as coastal protection, dike construction etc. The danger of clogging is eliminated, both high water permeability and soil retention capability are guaranteed.

Tessilbrenta Geotextiles offer the following advantages:
- Optimum number of constrictions for excellent filter performance:
- adequate soil retention capability,
- minimum danger of internal clogging
- an opening size suitable for almost all types of soil
- high water permeability
- high filter stability

Due to the non-woven structure, the hydraulic and mechanical properties do not change significantly under mechanical stress, as it is the fact with wovens
